Performance

4.0/59 of 9 reviewersstrong consensus

In this car, it makes 301 horsepower and 332 lb ft of torque. That's an increase of 73 ponies over the standard JCW

positive · Redline Reviews · ▶ 2:25

This has 301 horsepower which is more than a volkswagen golf r and about the same as a honda civic type r

positive · Doug DeMuro · ▶ 0:26

this car has that magical 2 L engine 228 horsepower... it still moves because it's 2900 lb

Handling

4.5/59 of 9 reviewersstrong consensus

This might literally be one of the best front-wheel drive steering racks I have ever experienced.

positive · Jubbal & Cars · ▶ 16:57

I love how this handles through corners you want to go attack roads in this car

positive · TestDrive · ▶ 5:14

The turning is so sharp and the mid-corner balance is really good. You wouldn't expect a front-wheel drive car to feel that neutral and pointy in the corners.

Fun to drive

4.5/59 of 9 reviewersstrong consensus

anytime i drive a mini i walk into it with a healthy dose of skepticism... and then i drive it and i immediately start smiling and that is the magical appeal

positive · Autotrader · ▶ 6:44

you can't drive this car without a smile on your face

positive · TheStraightPipes · ▶ 13:51

it is undeniably fun and it's so usable

The ride quality seriously beats you up. It borders on abusive. It's just never settles out.

critical · Redline Reviews · ▶ 35:26

I will say the ride is harsh unusually so... I could see it getting annoying every bump you feel it is an unusually harsh ride

critical · Doug DeMuro · ▶ 0:20

I did drive this car about an hour this morning just on the highway, and it is pretty rough. It's loud, it's buzzy, the interior squeaks and rattles.

critical · Autotrader · ▶ 5:34

the value is a hard sell on these cars i'm not going to lie

critical · TFLnow · ▶ 9:55

At $46,000 with the lack of tech, the lack of luxury, the terrible ride quality, you really want to have you really want to be committed to this car
